Feather Rising | Helping Abuse Survivors

Walking blindly with confidence

I started the Feather Rising website today. It was equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. I love business ownership, and helping people, and designing beautiful things. But creativity can take a lot out of me, and toward the end of the day, I could feel the doubts start to creep in. Who am I to think I could make any sort of impact? What is going to make my idea any different from the millions of others that are out there? My story isn’t even that bad. I rarely felt like I was in immediate physical danger—what do I say to the person whose story involves something much worse than I can even imagine?

This is where resilience and mindset come in. And it takes time and practice. The verse comes to mind to “take every thought captive and make it obedient to Him.” I had to consciously (and repeatedly) stop my thoughts, and replace them with the truth of what God says. He has given me this vision, and if I follow His leading, He will guide me in the right direction one step at a time.

I’m the type of person who wants to see the whole picture, but at the same time, I get overwhelmed with where to start if the idea is too big. I think God is purposely revealing only a small portion of His plan to me because He desires to protect me. He doesn’t want me to feel overwhelmed and get burned out before I barely even get started. So I will trust in Him, that he will reveal the next steps to me when it’s time.

Come with me on this adventure! Let’s find out what God has in store. Today let’s start by mentally standing in His truth, so we can move forward in faith. Below are three truths I like to keep in mind. What is one thing you can tell yourself when you catch yourself slipping into negative thought patterns?

I am a child of the most high God, dearly beloved by Him.

He has given us a spirit not of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not harm you, plans for hope and a future.
